I / The series

Escape is only the beginning.

When a brainwashed inmate escapes a Himalayan monolith where prisoners are secretly auctioned to global elites, he discovers the outside world — unaware that his new freedom is a meticulously staged corporate illusion.

Adapted from Tim Curry’s published book, Allegory brings a distinctive masked world to television. It is being developed for audiences drawn to psychological thrillers, speculative fiction and international suspense.

ALLEGORY

Episode 1 / The Escape

Pemba breaks the conditioning of the monolith and is thrust into the mountain wilderness. An encounter with Aria opens the door to a world he has never known.

ALLEGORY

Episode 2 / The Illusion

Pemba’s awakening unfolds alongside a second timeline. As the conspiracy reaches beyond the monolith, the people guiding him become harder to trust.

II / The world

A world built around the mask.

Bronze-look masks, dark leather and distressed hoods establish the series’ visual direction. The masked institution conceals identity and shapes the characters’ relationship with freedom and control.

Practical masks and costumes are part of the production’s design development.

III / Test photography

From the test shoot.

Early photographs from Allegory’s test shooting explore costume, performance and location.

These period-costume and location studies document Allegory’s early visual development. They are test photography, not frames from the proposed Nepal episodes; the mask artwork above is a separate design concept.

IV / Production

A UK–Nepal collaboration.

Development centres on the opening two episodes, bringing together original literary material, practical visual design and an international production partnership.

Audience & distribution

Built for an international audience.

Allegory is being developed for viewers of psychological thrillers, speculative fiction and international suspense, with a story that moves from the Himalayas into a wider corporate conspiracy.

The audience

Identity. Control. Manufactured freedom.

A character-led thriller combining Pemba’s first experience of the outside world with the unsettling question of who is controlling it.

The proposed route to market

Two episodes. A platform for the series.

The team plans to use the opening episodes, including the first as a standalone pilot, to approach broadcasters, streaming platforms and distribution partners. Multilingual versions are planned to support international conversations.

Distribution discussions are a planned next step. No broadcaster or streaming commission is secured.

V / Team & partners

The people behind Allegory.

Author, Creator & Director

Tim Curry

Tim Curry is the author and filmmaker behind Allegory, leading the adaptation of his original novel for television. An archaeology graduate and widely travelled storyteller, he draws on history, place and lived experience to shape its atmospheric world.

His filmmaking includes an independent documentary examining the human cost of pollution from the ILVA steelworks in Taranto, Italy, which was broadcast on local television. The experience also inspired his published short story, 6 Hours in Taranto, featured in the American anthology Journeys. His work extends to online interviews during the Covid pandemic with prominent public figures, including George Galloway.

Alongside directing and shooting independent films, Tim has taught film and cinema and worked with students on their own productions. He brings Allegory its original creative vision, practical filmmaking experience and a sustained interest in the forces that shape people’s lives.

Lead Actor & Original Music

Sam Sherpa-Moore

Sam Sherpa-Moore is an emerging actor and musician whose contribution to Allegory brings together screen performance, original music and a personal connection to Nepal.

His television credits include portraying Tenzing Norgay in Doctor Who: Joy to the World (2024). The role carried particular personal significance: the pioneering mountaineer was his great-great-uncle. Sam’s Sherpa heritage and childhood trek to Everest Base Camp, aged just ten, give him a longstanding connection to the Himalayan landscape that forms Allegory’s setting.

Alongside his role as the series’ lead actor, Sam contributes an original song recorded in Los Angeles with a string orchestra for its soundtrack. His involvement across acting and music makes him central to both the series’ on-screen storytelling and its musical identity.
